I have a 1997 Ford F-150, 4.6 CID, two wheel drive pickup. My son was driving the truck and it went into "neutral" and hasn't shifted into a forward gear since. I have replace the TRS switch, both sensors in the transmission, and the sensor in the rear end. I have had my son start the engine, put the transmission in neutral and slowly move the transmission from neutral to 1st and the transmission never goes in any gear. Any suggestions. Thanks.

Hello, Im assuming by the title that you have reverse, a common problem with these transmissions(should be a 4R70W)is the foward clutches wear leaving too much clearance, when the piston moves up to apply the clutch, it moves too far as the piston returns it tears the lip seal. Not much you can do on the outside. Gary

Hello, If the piston lip seal tears when returning, yes it will happen suddenly, that is very common. I would say either that or something stripped in the geartrain, it happens but not that common. Gary
