I just had the automatic transmission filter and automatic transmission fluid changed on my 1997 GMC jimmy.Since then while driving at different speeds the vehicle kind of lunges or hesitates slightly.I put the vehicle in park while running and checked the fluid level. It appears that it is overfilled. Could this explain the problem?

If it's less than one quart over full, it shouldn't be a problem, but should remove the excess. Transmission fluid is very high in detergent. When changing fluid it will wash all the gum and varnish deposits off of the clutches. If there are any weak points, they will show up afterwards. Kind of a catch 20 situation. If you don't replace the fluid, you will have problems, if you do, you may have problems. If the transmission sees a problem, the PCM should store a trouble code and the CEL illuminate. A plugged fuel filter or weak fuel pump can cause the symptoms that you described. Loren SW Washington
