S-10 chevy pickup Sign In

Is there a difference in a 2 wheel and a 4 wheel transmission for the 1995 S-10 pickup? Or will they interchange?

2wd trans has a longer mainshaft and a tailshaft housing that contains the VSS in it. It is made for the driveshaft splines to slip onto it. A 4wd has a shorter shaft and no tailhousing to allow the transfer case to bolt up to it.Its splines are made to be the proper size for the input of the transfer case. They will not interchange because of that difference in the main shaft.

What other vehicles does the shorter shaft fit? We bought one from someone and it does not work on our vehicle, basically we were lied to, so in trying to sell it, we want to be honest.

Sorry you have the wrong one. You should find out exactly what it is and what it fits so you can sell it.

Guessing this is used and with that there's room for it to fail without an intense known history. What parts fit what models and model years is software that usually only salvage yards have.

Back to the first post: Why do you think or know you need a transmission at all? I think you know you do and have chosen used and with that does come some risk vs a real overhaul which of course is expensive. Your call on that but know the risks,

If this came out of a 95 S10, you are going to need to install it in a 95 S10 or Blazer with the 4.3 engine. It must be a 95 as that was the first year of the PWM TCC but it was a hybrid of OBD-1 and OBDII programming with an OBD1 datalink. Kind of a mutt in a sense. My 95 Suburban is the same way. The 93 and 94 model years used a 4L60E trans, but not with a PWM TCC. The 96 and later years did but run OBDII. So its something of a niche item. Thing is, if someone wants to put a trans in a 95 they need one from a 95 and if they have the sense to realize that just bolting in doesn't mean its going to work then you have an easy sale. Thank you for being honest and representing your sale properly, even though it wasn't done for you.
