Squeaking noise, maybe the trans?

Hello good folks. Wondering if someone can help me out as I'm not super car knowledgeable. I have a 2008 Ford Fusion, 2.3l four cylinder, 5 speed manual, just under 32000 miles on it. Just recently, it started making a squeaking noise which I first thought was a belt. It seems to go away when I drop it into neutral. It seems to be worse in lower gears (3rd and below) than high gears. It also seems to go away after I've been driving a while. I'm completely lost...any input would be appreciated greatly.

Does the noise change if you push down the clutch pedal? Gary

No, it really only seems to change with revs.

May not be in the trans, you may want to take the belt off and see if the noise is still there. Gary
