I have a question. I'm getting ready to do a engine swap (4cyl-8cyl) on my 88 mustang lx/auto. I need to know if any one has had any problems using a T5 tranny with the 302? I plan on doing quite a bit of mods on the performance and hopefully exceeding 300ft lbs torque. I seached for specs on all the T5 trannys used in production on the stangs. It seems like they did a few changes on the T5's from 89-90 and on the 93 cobra T5's. The gear ratios are different in 2nd and 3rd and the torque ratings went from 265-300 (up to 310 on the 93 cobra's). Has anyone ever had a T5 fail them that came from a 86-89? Does anyone make a heavy duty rebuil kit for the T5? I would love to get a T56 but don't have the $$$ for one.

Bolt her up and let her go; you’ll soon find out if it’ll stay together. Hot rodding isn’t it fun. LOL My son and I have built up a small block Chev for his 79 Firebird; pushing around 400 horse and stuck a 700R4 trans behind it that was a good working trans but it (the trans) didn’t like the extra ponies one bit. I know you’re talking standard trans but once you start mixing drive train you never really know what’s going to happen. Dan. Canadian "EH"
