We have a 2002 Jeep Laredo 4.0, automatic that has been sitting for over a year. Although the engine started right up, the transmission is acting like it doesn't want to shift out of first gear. What's anybody's guess?

You need to start out by having the codes read in both the PCM and TCM. You could be having an issue with a speed sensor. Look it all over carefully to see if maybe some animals could have chewed through some wires while it was parked. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.
