So I used to own a 2001 Hyundai Elantra when I exited Highschool, unfortunately it had to go to the junk yard eventually, but now I bought a 2006 Hyundai Elantra.... They were and are both used, but in great shape and perfectly serviceable... The problem is when I owned the old one I replaced a half shaft because it was clacking and when I pulled it out I lost a little tranny fluid, which seemed to have caused a little grinding up into 5th gear. If I understand correctly the fluid level in a manual gear box is fairly important, so considering that I'm preparing to acquire a clutch kit and shop crane for my new one because I suspect the clutch is nearing the end of it's serviceable life I'm doing a little poking around to mitigate any foreseeable issues.... Hopefully all of them if not just the foreseeable ones....
As I'm going to have to pull the axles to pick the engine out of the bay, I'm curious as to what exactly I'm going to have to do to prevent more transmission issues like I had with the 2001.... I'm likely going to drain a refill the transmission while I'm at it any ways, as I bought it used and don't know if it has ever been done at all, but need to know where to look and what to look for in regards to ensuring I fill it properly in the event such a small difference can make for a malfunction like that, and if there's anything special I need to do to ensure it either fills that void or how I can measure what's in there..... The transmission is sealed, it has no dipstick, so I'm figuring I'll just have to measure what goes in and examine it for behavioral changes, but was hoping for advice or insight....

TRANSAXLE GEAR OIL LEVEL INSPECTION
Inspect each component for evidence of leakage. Check the gear oil level by removing the filler plug. If the oil is contaminated, it is necessary to replace it with new oil.
1. Remove oil filler plug and check level with finger.
2. Oil level must be up to fill the hole, add oil until it runs over. Then reinstall plug.
3. Replace the oil so that the transaxle gear oil is not dirty, and so that it is of a suitable viscosity.
