OK, I have a: 1998 Chevy S-10 2.2L 4cyl. LS. with a 4L60E auto/transmission.

Now, I want to remove the pan and replace the filter and gasket. BUT, that darn linkage "thingy" is in the way.

Will it come apart at the bracket? if It don't I can't get to the bolt under it.......darn.

Oh yea, I'm replacing the valve cover gasket and the oil pan gasket, the whole motor is seeping oil.
I spent most of the day today cleaning 10 years of grease and crud off the lower front end............

If memory serves me correctly, there is a couple of torx bolts on the top side that hold that bracket it on. You may be tempted to try to bend it out of the way but it's best to remove it...........

The shifter cable bracket is held on with regular hex-head bolts.

I need to get the cable seperated so it will slide out of the bracket.

thanks, Jerry

I got it...............

All you have to do is take pliers and press the tabs in on both side and slide the shifter linkage back.

this will push the whole mounting out of the bracket letting you get at the bolt.........Done.......
