I have a 1993 Ford Aerostar 4.0L V6 about 250 k miles The transmission had been shifting hard into Overdrive and the other Forward Gears for a while so I changed the Transmission Filter hoping that would help. Instead of helping not it will not shift into any of the forward gears at all. Any Suggestions Ideas possible fixes would be appreaciated as this is my family's only vehicle.

Is that to say it does work in reverse? How much fluid did you add? For typical trans pan drop and filter there are estimated amounts that don't include other areas like the torque converter - still fine but you don't get all of it. You would measure (can be a mess to catch all of it) what came out and start with that much back and check a few times. It might be just low. Hard to say as these are checked while running in park after shifting thru the gears to purge air out. Keep checking without overfilling either. If no luck, could be trouble. Some require the filter to be installed exactly right or it won't pick up oil properly and wouldn't shift. May have to go back if unsure?? T
