Two possible transmission problems Sign In

2007 Mercedes S550 4 Dr sedan

I have two problems with possibly the transmission, and like to get some opinion from the expert mechanics on this forum.

1. I am driving and slowing to a stop, when I am ready to go again, the car starts very very very slow even if I accelerate up to 3000 RPM. It feels like the car is starting from the third or fourth gear. I am guessing that when I stop, the transmission is not shifting back to the lowerest (1st) gear. this happens once in a while, but often enough that it is becoming annoying and starts to concern me.

2. When I am driving and slowing down (not necessarily to a complete stop), when I re-accelerate, speed is not increased if I rev up to say 4000/5000 RPM, the car appears to be stuck at the speed that was slowed down to (30 or 40mph).

For both of the above cases, if I pull over, stop and re-start the engine. Everything becomes normal.

Does this sound like a software problem? I am concern that this might become an unsafe driving condition.

TIA.
