i've got a 2002 ford escort,2.0 liter, 4 speed overdrive when the car is ideling in gear, with brake pressed it shakes pretty bad, steering wheel bounces up and down, even worse when a/c is on. the car drives fine, shifts smooth,no strange engine noises a/c compressor doesn't squeal, neither does the alternator or water pump. i've changed transmission fluid and filter twice (looked good both times) injectors sound strong,no trouble codes,no vacuum leaks. i've changed plugs, wires, coil pack, serpentine belt, timing belt, harmonic balancer. no luck. i'talk to the automotive instructor at the collage and he thinks it may have a lock-up torque convertor that could be cracked. the fellow at the transmission shop(on the phone)said he never heard of a car doing that. so right now i'm at a loss.any ideas? it's not the motor mounts

If you place it in neutral, what does the vehicle do? If there is no change, release the brake pedal and see what it does. If it goes away with foot off brake, there is a vacuum problem somewhere in the power booster system. Not very likely, but a possibility. Being way2old is why I need help from younger minds
