i have a 2000 pont grand prix 3.8l no supercharger when i start the car up and drive for about 20 miles the trans shifts perfect but then it will shift hard the car has 90000 miles on it the tempature gauge is only a 1/4 up and the coolant looks dirty would a tran flush do the trick

I'd flush cooling system and change trans fluid and filter but not flush it. Perhaps just me, but I favor synthetic fluids,

1/4 up on the temp guage doesn't sound high enough. I'd check the actual engine temp. It may be running too cool and not obtaining closed loop operation. A new thermostat may be in order along with the cooling system flush. The ECM controls the trans. shifting, so anything that effects engine management can also effect the trans.
