Re: hard to shift Sign In

That is nowhere near enough info to determine anything at all.

I suggest you have them take it to a local shop for diagnosis and see what they say.

Hello, thank you for the response, I have some new info. that might help, when I drain the transmission fluid, it was so dark and smells very bad the thing that worried me the most was when I check the fluid there was lots of broken small metal particles. what do you suggest?

thank you and God bless you.

eyob07: That need to go to a shop for an estimate for rebuilding that transmission if this one is good enough to be rebuilt which may take dismantling.
Not my trade specialty but isn't out of the training. Those are pretty severe warning signs this one has really been eating itself up.
You again said it wasn't your personal vehicle. Perhaps because it's showing all signs of a horror show if your friend go for a ride when all done and see how they drive. A ton of folks just don't get it especially standard shift vehicles really watch for how they approach a hill start or stop and go. No riding clutches - they get glowing hot, wear fast and nothing likes that heat it's right at the transmission itself so complete diagnosis and fix done but do you friend a favor and see how they drive.

Of all things the bad habit of using the clutch to hold you still in traffic up a hill takes the cake. Use brakes not a clutch - see how the person does that if so they are causing this problem probably if they don't get it own an automatic,
Tom
