I know nothing about transmissions, but my 1996 Chev. 1500 4X4 will not move when you put it into D. Reverse and the lower gears work. The shop says it is a broken sprag. I don't know what that is, nor how it got broken. Can you help with info, and what should it cost (part only) to repair? Thanks!!

It’s an internal part of the transmission and usually means rebuilding the trans.
