1998 S-10 P/U 2.2 Auto. 131000 miles. Seems trans can't make up its mind were to shift at 55-60 mph. Seems to downshift to lower gear. When I increase speed above 60 all is fine. Have had it serviced (power flush) 2x since ownership (@30000).Fluid smells OK with no bad leaks, level ok. Problem has existed for about a year. Doesn't go away and hasn't gotten worse. Maybe there isn't a problem. One place said I need a new one ( Which I believe is BS )

ricky; 55-60mph is about the point where it should be shifting into OD. GMs have had a problem with this for years. I'm not saying this is what's wrong, but a common complaint. Usually, it is a solenoid in the trans. A reputable transmission shop should be able to diagnose this and advise you from there. Check with friends, relatives, Better Business Bureau, ect. to find a shop that you feel you can trust. Personally, I'd stay away from the 'chain' stores. Loren SW Washington
