98 dodge caravan 3.0L over 225000. wife was coming home and heard loud bang and just made it home she had a hard time driving cause it was slipping had some trouble with tranny slipping in the past also left a trail of tranny oil from store to home by observing under the neath noticed a hole in the area where the cvjoints meet. turning the key just powers up and starter just makes a whinging noise and thats it. just want 2 know wht caused the hole and what to fix?

Something flew apart. I am sure once it is in the air you'll find out what happened. My guess would be that the flywheel came apart and part of it went through the bell housing. Maybe part of something popped a hole in the differential housing on its way out? That is just a guess though..others may have different guesses. Since we volunteer our time and knowledge, we ask for you to please follow up when a problem is resolved.
