Hi I just bought a 1997 Chrysler Town and Country it has over 159,000 miles on it and I just found out that the transmission is leaking and I wanted to know if I need a new tran or is it something simple that needs to be fixed.

These transmissions have a problem with their solenoid pack gaskets leaking. A very common problem and relatively easy to repair. If you do this youself it's critical to make sure it is very clean around the pack before removing it since it's top mounted & on the outside of the transmission. Once removed it is very easy for dirt or debris to fall into the valve body and create internal problems... Obviously you would want to verify this before any repairs are made because this isn't the only thing that can leak, just one of the more common areas aside from the pan gasket
