transmission problem Sign In

2004
chevy Trailblazer
4.2 6-cylinder
rear wheel drive
about 105000 miles

I was on the highway today with the cruise control on. I had to slow down I hit the resume button and the car down shifted and seemed to go into neutral. so I pulled over when to check it out fluid was at a normal level.
when I went to drive a way i heard a clunk and the car wouldn't go. I managed to get the car going by manual shifting through the gears. should I replace the trans or is it a solenoid or module I can replace.

Any help would be appreciated thanks

Usally your fluid condition is a good indication of internal Transmission Problems. If it's black, burnt, gritty or have tiny metal filings I would suspect internal problems. If you are unsure drop the pan and inspect the magnet for excessive metal.. a little is normal.

If you suspect electrical problems it will need to be put on a scanner to further diagnose the problem.
