transmission wont shift into gear

1995 Oldsmobile Cutlass Ceria, 3.1 V-6 , 134436 miles. Car acted like it was running out of gas so I pulled into gas station and added gas. When I went to leave it would not go into gear when I shifted into drive or reverse. The fluid is at the proper level, the linkage is working properly, no leaks are noticeable. I can feel the transmission try to engage in gear when I shift but does not move.

You might want to have a trans shop do some pressure checks, but your 18 year old trans may have finally given up the ghost.
