I hear a low whining noise. sometimes I have to put it in reverse before drive then it drives for acouple minutes then totally acts as though its slips with no power to trans. I turn it off wait a few minutes start it then it will drive for acouple minutes. 77 chevy van 350 turbo trans. its been sitting for one year. trans fluid is full. maybe torque conveter? ran fine when parked 1 yr. ago. also will old gas make it run rough and lil black smoke like its running rich? I added 20.00 of fresh gas now has half tank of fresh and old.

I'd put some Techron fuel treatment in the gas and clean carb well in and out with carb cleaner spray. Replace fuel filter and plugs. Trans: Change fluid and filter as a cheap maybe for the fix. Possibly the front pump is weak and may or may not correct without a teardown and overhaul, T
