Hi all- I have a 1998 LeSabre with 60,000 miles which suddenly developed a very harsh 1-2 and 2-3 shift. I read somewhere on the internet of the problem being caused by a sticking pressure regulating solonoid? (not sure of the name) which can be gummed up. It suggested a transmission tune product I think called sea spray but perhaps any good reputable trans. additive may work. I am not a big believer in trans. additives, but tried this product. Within 10 miles of driving with some stops and starts the transmission was shifting fine and has remained so.. I would guess this fix would apply to other GM cars using the same transmission.

I'm not a big fan of additives but you may be "Down for the count" for a trans rehaul so go for it and it may work?? There are very few good magic tricks in a bottle out there, T
