Hello everyone! First time here not sure if I'm posting this correctly. Got an 81 Corvette, clutch pedal adjusted as far as it can be (high Pedal), no problems shifting. However, pedal will not engage neutral safety switch by 1/8 of an inch when fully depressed. There is no stop on the pedal and switch is non adjustable. The switch can be surgically altered to operate . Currently the switch has been by passed via toggle switch until I'm 100percent sure I have to replace this clutch to get this puppy to operate as it should. Dreading a clutch job on a vehicle that has 33k on it. Other than the mounting post for the switch which appears to be fine can't think of any other reason why the pedal will not engage the switch. Yes switch was tested independently and is not defective. However, for peace of mind I got a new switch tested it and installed it got same results. Any input will be greatly appreciated.

Those are two separate issues. If the clutch has a couple inches of free play at the top and still catches too high, then yes, you need a new clutch but this has nothing to do with the clutch switch. There has to be some reason for that like the carpets holding the pedal back or something like that. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.
