With that said; The '78 has front disc brakes and rack and pinion steering. Most of the '78s didn't come with a V8, so the disc brakes may not be 'enough' for the heavier '66. If the '78 is a V8 car, you still may want to check around for acceptable modifications. There are a ton of Mustang clubs on the internet. The rack and pinion 'could' be done, but why? The 66 should be fine if front end is all perfect. If funny feeling or loose steering the steerng box is adjustable to perfection but you can destroy it if not done right!
