Bend Back out, Bondo and Paint? Sign In

My sister in law just got her car damaged by my neighbor backing out of his driveway... I think she can get it bent back out, bondo it and paint for cheap... It looks like it only affected the metal panel and a little bit of the door panel just on the edge. The door works fine the car drives fine. Is this an easy fix or $3k worth of repairs like her auto guy just told her?

It's not as simple as you make it out to be. The amount of labor it would take to straighten those parts would exceed the cost of replacing them. You might be able to find a better price than $3000 but don't expect drastic differences.

Thanks for the reply. Damn, I was thinking it wasn't as bad as they were making it seem... Time to shop around.

Just remember when your shopping, if it seems too good to be true, it probably is. You get what you pay for and a sloppy final outcome isn't worth anything. Look at some of the shop's work and see what kind or quality they put out.

BondoBen; Surely, the person that backed into her has insurance? I would demand a quality repair. Nothing less. If the person doesn't have insurance, her uninsured driver's coverage should take care of it and then the insurance company can go after the other guy. Same thing happened to me. A neighbor backed into my wife's car. I just turned it over to the ins. company. That's what we pay for.

Why would a door and front quarter panel cost 3k? Is this a Bentley or something?
