Cant get 3.0 accord auto transmission back in Sign In

I'm working on my sister's 99 accord 3.0 auto. Her car wouldn't start so I took starter off to find out that that ring gear on the outside of the torque converter had broken the welds and was no Longer attached. I took out transmission re welded torque converter and now I'm in the process of putting transmission back in. The transmission was pretty hard for me to remove because of the space issues. Now I'm trying to get it back in, I have the torque converter bolted to the engine and it's not getting back toward the firewall far enough to line up. It's hitting on the frame where the subframe was bolted. Anyone have any tips on getting this transmission in? I'm on jackstands with a big hydraulic jack to hold the transmission.

I don't understand. You have the torque converter bolted to the engine? You don't bolt the torque converter up until you get the transmission assembly mounted to the engine block.

Not sure on this car specifically, but usually the torque converter stays in trans. Virtually impossible to get tc properly seated on input, stator, pump shafts with it bolted to flexplate. Also if you have pulled the tc, as a fyi you should be replacing the tc seal. Probably wont get bellhousing to clear the converter bolted to flexplate. Also, IMO you are asking for trouble welding on a tc.

DS wins this time

You go welding on it and you'll probably throw it out of balance anyway.

Thanks for the advise on not bolting up tc first. I thought about it but it looked like I would have no room to allign the tc and flex plate holes. I'm gonna try it like that in a couple days and get the tc seal. I should probably get another tc too then huh? Ill post my results.

Maybe... Also weakening even a tiny spot on the tc makes a spot for a pinhole to form when subjected to pressure and heat.

Now, just pray that you haven't broken the front pump while attempting to force it in. I would definitely replace the front seal before attempting it again. Make sure the converter is fully seated before putting the trans in.
