Magnetic Pick up replacement

I have a 92 5L ford
Need to replace the pick up in the distributer.
Do I have to pull the dist. out or can it be done from the top end & still in the engine????
Any tricks in accomplishing this????

You are going to have to remove the distributor. Just mark the distributor at 2 places. One where it is sitting, and one where the gears start to mesh. Then when you install it, line those marks up and it will be an easy timing adjustment.
