Trick for Removing Ford Fuel Filter Sign In

Does anybody have any tips/tricks for removing the fuel filter on a 1994 Ford Taurus GL (Station Wagon)?

Conceptually it's very straight forward, but I swear there's just zero room up in there to get the thing out. I've had the lines off and even completely removed the hose clamp thinking that might buy me some wiggle room but no matter what I tried I couldn't get it out.

So far I tried to wiggle it out towards the front and rear of the car...the farthest I've ever got it out was pulling towards the front, though I read someone online mentioning he got his out through the rear.

Anybody have any advice on removing the darn thing?

Thanks!!

I don't understand what the big issue is here. You loosen the clamp and slide the filter out.

If it's really necessary, you remove the whole bracket.

I'm showing this uses the one time clips to hold lines on...............

Take whatever out of the way those must be removed - push, pull with pliers but out or lines are stuck on if so. New ones come with new filters and more can be had if you mess them up upon installation. Check for leaks when done of course as it you beat up on lines you may cause one,

Re: Trick for Removing Ford Fuel Filter Sign In

after soaking down the mounting brackets enough with PB blaster I got the whole mount out.

I don't really know what the issue was either...I was able to get the lines off with ease, it was just removing the filter which proved difficult.

It seems like from what I've read it's supposed to slide out towards the rear of the vehicle but there was a bolt blocking that plan.

I probably took longer than necessary trying to get it out without removing the mount but oh well...chalk it up as lesson learned and moving on!! Cool

Re: Trick for Removing Ford Fuel Filter Sign In

Plenty of things take longer than planned. Kingjim9 - what I do now and have for ages now only for my own car(s) in a rust belt older than this car is right away things that will need attention someday like that get covered in spray lithium grease - makes for a dirty mess to work on next time but not battles every time.

If everything with this job just cooperated it's not that hard - I'm sure you know that now,
