i'm wondering if there is a thick pad (couch type) that could be placed on the engine of a large pickup while working on it.
it would stop heat transfer and be comfortable to lay on.
moving blankets have been used but these transfer some heat and i'd like something to hide the contour of the engine better.
any ideas?

Laying down on the job again eh ? My hide has gotten so tough that a fender cover does for me . However if comfort is your game then try a cheap sleeping bag , the kind with the ground cloth sewn to it.
