1948 ford f2 pickup Sign In

Hi.
New poster. My mother in law is looking to sell her 1948 ford f2 pickup. She asked for my help but i can't find anything to price it. i believe it has the flathead engine and it runs. the body is in good shape. the interior is in good shape. Thats about all i know about it. Just a ballpark figure would be appreciated.

First you are going to need to know exactly what you have and put a condition on it mechanical and cosmetically with some pics to start.

Pricing is tricky with many things but need to know specifics on this thing. Is it original, redone.

Maybe try this: Go look for one for sale now and see what is out there from parts only to finished up hot rod out of one or what.

IDK - look for an appraiser in your area. Ask her or your insurance company might be a way as they would put a price on it if you insured it or provide a list of ways to put a value to it.

I can't even come up with a guess other that metal weight value which doesn't help. FYI - some auto body shops also can do appraisals or find you someone or place that will.

You don't know much about what it is so I sure don't so get that much done, find out just what it is,

Thanks Tom. I may go the route of the appraiser.

Regards.

Yes - I would. Even then you take that with a grain of salt. You may have seen some large estate auctions or known high value places like Sotheby's (NYC I think) and for cars Barretts in I think Phoenix. Some will bid up 10 times what the first asking price was, some don't sell? Those for much higher interest vehicles and things.

I've done ONE long written appraisal only needed an automotive pro to write up over a value needed for something. Just happened to be an older but not real special version of a Corvette. To settle an estate without going too far was disputed so my guess really was probably one of a few? I did note VIN# was poorly changed by knowing they were high on the stolen list and even if was legal with a new one IMO then and now would lower it's value.

Truth is any will be an educated guess. Was it rare or sought after for some reason. I really don't know for yours. Appraiser should at least give you what you want and not miss totally.

Again, if all else fails try an insurance company for your area for where you can price it. They sure would if someone destroyed it and was responsible to pay for the damage or value of the whole thing!

Good luck. Sounds like you are involved as a favor for this person to get involved at all. I just say it's not clear cut to know. Things always end up with what "Willing Buyers and Sellers Agree on" and about ends there! Getting the two to meet is another challenge!

You could check out WWW.HemmingsMotorNews.com known as the "old car Bible" of sales, parts, services, wanted things for the old car/vehicle hobby. See if any are wanted by that exact year and model or one for sale and the asking price which doesn't mean they'll get that but a clue kind of,
