1960 Desoto exterior maint. Sign In

I recently inherited a 1960 Desoto Adventurer from my grandparents. They were the original owners and have taken excellent care of the car over the years. The interior is perfect and the exterior is the original paint.
Althought the exterior is in good condition, the paint is dull or oxidized. I have tried wax and a buffer, but this isn't really working well.
Is there a really good product out there that will bring back the finish on this old paint without having to repaint the car?

I used to use a rubbing compound first ...then a cleaner and wax..

i do like the products made by Meguiars..and the products made by Mothers....both quality products..

I will post before and after once it's polished up. Thanks for your suggestions.

Ditto with Meguiars. The RV stuff #ed Meguiars 50 can work magic without being abrasive. I think the same product is in the burgundy bottle sold as Cleaner Wax in a liquid for cars etc.,

I think I'm going to go with Meguiars. I have been participating in forums for both Mothers and Meguiars. There are a lot of good people out there with helpful suggestions.
Meguiars M80 speed glaze seems to be the way to start, then a polish and finally a wax.
Sound right?

Sounds good. If you can keep the original paint and get it looking good it would be great!

Be sure to visit www.forwardlook.org for other people into 1960 desotos. Also plan to join the National DeSoto Club.
