My grandpa recently passed and left behind a 1976 ford f-250 ranger camper special. I want to completly restore this vehicle and need to know if any of them came with a vinyl top because it appears it may have had one but i want to get it right so i need to make sure.

There were plenty of engine options. Original should be encoded in VIN # seen thru windshield. A letter in perhaps 5th or 8th (forget) spot will say what it came with new. I'll see if I have the book on which letter means which engine if you post the VIN. If you want privacy just us an (*) where some or all #s are and say so as the engine will be a letter, T

That engine was much more popular in trucks that late. Monster engined Ford cars seemed to go 400M or even 460. Owned a few 390s and all were good engine to me anyway. Gas mileage was not a strong suit but it wasn't the point either, T

If you need a good vendor for parts to build the truck, try LMC or Year One. Both have very detailed parts inventories. Had good experiences with both
