Unsure My '57 Chevy starts OK, but after awhile it idles down and dies-out. Re-starting is very difficult, but will start after I give it lots of gas. It will drive OK, but I have to make sure it won't stall. The carb looks to be a Carter wcfb 4-barrel. Stock 283. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks

Lots of possibilities of course. How old is this gas and how is the car stored? These carbed cars will need owner know how for the choke, fuel needs and some basic understanding of the system.

Since it starts right up I'm wondering about the fuel itself, fuel pump/filter and the choke settings may take choke off too soon which all should be adjustable. If you are new to this carbed car thing you will learn that they won't behave the same when cold given the ambient temp and how long it's been since it was driven to fully warmed up,
