Pulled out orig stuck engine and getting ready to uplift another that runs. Was an automatic engine- going into standard car. Have used the clutch input shaft to extract the pilot bearing and now wanting some "old fart" advice on any other things to look for before install. Clutch disc looke good & pressure plate is good enough that a scotchbrite will clean it up good. Timing gears look good etc. What am I missing?

Be sure to replace the pilot bearing/bushing. I'd recommend having the flywheel resurfaced. If you can afford it, I'd replace the disc and the pressure plate while you've got it torn down. Better to do it, now. Loren SW Washington

O K old farts. I said that cause I turned 60 3 months ago which qualifies me. This is the wimpy 110 hp. weeny I know. This is not my goal for a classic as I just sold a 62 Nova rag. My dad bought my sis a 62 vair with powerglide. What a dog!. I have never pulled (dropped) one of these engines. Whatan experience! The crank is above the cam, the timing gear cover is also the bell housing! Go figger? I called O'Reilys for the timing gasket, they said they would call back. Told them the timing gasket is on the bellhousing. They never called back. Making my own from a Busch box. Ain't it fun?

Hammer - ads at bottom pay for the site - some are contradictory to the site but rotate so you don't always see what I do or others. There will always be something to fix at this site Low pay for bottom ads. Banners pay best and so far by skin of teeth we get by. Posted ads are a not allowed as you know, T

60? Okay, you are in!  Coors Light boxes work quite well, too. Did the '62 have just a little lever mounted on the dash for the transmission? No park, of course. Can't remember, for sure. Loren SW Washington

I'm not sure Loren, that car is not here. I got the whole undercarriage ( engine transaxle, front steering etc) and the body is sitting on the ground about 4 miles from me. I am supposed to pick it up & bring it home also. Good glass & other parts remain. The 60 we had DID have the little lever on the right side of the steering wheel on the dash. Powerglide, so they called it. Peanutbutter drive. WOOF! I'll need to get an ignition key for this one soon. Don't know what's in the trunk, no key for that either.
