After resolving issues with my carburetor, I figured I would tackle my door panel on my 1978 Grand Marquis 2-door. Basically, the long armrest on the door panel is falling off and has many cracks in it. The arm rest houses the power window and lock switches, and door handle. There are 2 main screws that hold the arm rest in place, and the plastic around them has cracked off. Does anyone know if gluing the plastic back on with epoxy would work? Any other ideas?

Doubt you will find new or OE grade reproduction parts but try. If you must I've had good luck with either clear (a silicone) Permatex Adhesive and glue from back side. Goop is great too but need to work faster with it and clear off any extra that gets in wrong places right away as it's near impossible once it's dry/hardened.

Silicone products are great but keep in mind they reject any kind of paint or refinishing if you are going nuts to make this real nice.

Have you joined a Merc club for resources for odd stuff? Other is Hemming Motor News. Local book store or perhaps on line (been a while since restoring real old stuff) has a wild amount of ads for places that can fix moulded stuff here and there on doors and dash. Hemmings is based out of Bennington, VT which doesn't matter but a phone book like full size paper phone book of small ads for fixes for odds and ends.

A problem locally for better used parts to fix for this is it weighs so much with local space to keep them so expensive they are cashing in on metal value big time,
