I have a 1929 chevy 6 cylinder. Rebuilt the manual fuel pump, but still can't get it to pull gas from the tank

This probably uses a leather diaghragm? Usually, have to soak them to get them to seal. Are you wanting to keep this bone stock? 6 cylinder? What engine? Loren SW Washington

Smile! Leather can be used in a jam for a main journal bearing! B4 good rubber products leather ruled for lots of things,
BTW - you could grease the hubs on a wagon wheel with bacon fat! Bet you big bucks none of that is on any ASE test! T

Poor Jeff. Guess it is a good thing we have taken you under our wings. You might actually learn some obscure facts that will make you the envy of the neighborhood.

Mr. way2old - it's either the envy of the neighborhood or they'll have him locked up in a straight jacket in a rubber room! Laugh - they even let me out sometimes!

Don't feel too bad, Jeff. My first experience with leather diaghragms was my '40 Ford. The wiper motor (vacuum) had one. Can't remember where I got it, but replaced the diaghragm with a new piece, but soaked it in oil after I mounted it to the 'flapper'. After about 20 years of worthless wipers, I converted it to electric. (was a kit). Loren SW Washington

Don't step on the gas when it's raining? In the Pacific Northwest? I just always went downhill in compression when it rained. Loren SW Washington

Hell! PS fluid driven hydraulic wipers were more fun! Hit a puddle (wet belt), loose steering and can't see both! Good ole days! Not so bad though. Utility poles used to make interesting hood ornaments! T

I could never afford one of those high-dollar cars with hydraulic wipers. We had a '49 Cad Convertable in a couple of years ago. Power windows didn't work. They were hydraulic. Got 'em working, though. Had never heard of it before. Loren SW Washington
