Sign In I hear all the time that you shouldn't change the ATF in high milage vehicles, but what about just draining the fluid in a clean pan and just changing the filter then put the old fluid back in? And past what milage do you guys think you shouldn't change the fluid? Sign In Alot of times what happends is when you don't stick to a maintmance plan the fluid becomes dirty. This dirt and stuff sits around seals and other parts of the tranny and the dirt sort of acts like a seal. when you flush out the old fluid it can create lower pressures and can cause seals to leak and other stuff like that. Sign In I see what you mean. i guess if it was changed regularly like it should have been then its ok to change it.
