Hi! My daughter is off to collage and will leave her car home for 4 months. How should I "prepare" the car so it will work fine when she returns? THANKS! Gene:)

That's a fairly short period of time. The biggest concern would be the battery. You need to either drive it once a month for at least 30 minutes or disconnect the battery. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.

Shumaker makes a $20 battery maintainer that's automatic and trickle charges a battery to 100% of it's capability. I own many - they use very little electricity but do need house current. Works awesome for even long stored batteries. Now - if the car is outdoors and subject to weather driving it is suggested. Use brakes too as some get gun rust or worse fairly quickly and won't self correct without work if left too long. Seals all over a car do much better also when used. They are everywhere and if those sit idle too long can create leaks, T

It's an old thread and the origin was about preventing problems for short term storage not an active problem, T
