Specific oil filter for Mazda 6?

Hello, Sorry for a novice question or if this has been addressed somewhere else on the forum, but I have not found the answer. I recently purchased a Mazda 6 (very pleased with car). An auto mechanic friend of mine said I did not have to have it serviced at the Mazda dealer; however, I needed to ensure that the service center I used installed an oil filter with a ________. I believe he said something like a "compression valve". Is there such a thing? I have never heard of this. His explanation is that it helps the oil stay in the top of the engine so it is available immediately (rather than only pooling at the bottom) when the car is started. I have a hard time believing that there is anything specific to a Mazda engine that would require this when this type of product would not also benefit all engines currently on the market. Also, I have a hard time believing (or finding) an oil filter with this special feature. Again, sorry if this is a little ridiculous, but I didn't want to run the risk of making a mistake like this due to my ignorance. Thanks in advance!

Anti drain back valve Most manufacturers recommend using an oem filter. Since we volunteer our time and knowledge, we ask for you to please follow up when a problem is resolved.

Thanks very much. OEM only then? I'm sure there are cheaper, but are there also better ones than the Mazda brand or is that the only safe way to go?
