reason i ask is have heard from a ford engineer on a internet auto show saying slick 50 yes its a sliperyy oil but i cant put it in his exact words what harm it does but he says over time your doing more harm than good and i have to agree with him i my self once used a a bottle of slick 50 for higher mileage engines and after 3000kms with the stuff in the engine it died litterly

I wouldn't believe anything on those 'informercials'. Chances are, the engine died of other reasons? Loren SW Washington

YAH! i have heard a few baad true stories about slick 50 1 guy i know told me he seized his brand new engine back in the 80"s after changing his oil and filter on my old tercel it had problem with oil burning thats because toyota had problems with the valve seals after i used that crap 3000kms later i went out one day and almost imediatly had major power loss took it to a shop they said you have very little compression you need a engine!!!  so call it snake or Sh!t oil for that matter i no it did harm to my engine i will never ever use that junk in my cars again and if anyone out there in there right mind is willing to risk there engine i say go ahead anyone that thinks they need to use a liquid teflon coating to stick to there engine is on crack that stuff will get into places of a tight tolerance engine and do harm believe me the best oil to use is synthetic

trw; I seriously doubt that a quart of Slick 50 caused the engine to sieze. It more than likely had an issue prior to adding the snake oil. You are right, a good synthetic is a much better and wiser decision. Loren SW Washington

Just BTW - I use rated synthetic oils and have no problems passing 200k on my own or cars is my care. Tricks - IMO are snake oil tricks the probably can't hurt but a waste, T

Back in the 1980's when it first came out, I had a Mustang 351 Cleveland, 4V Heads which was freshly blueprinted and balanced. It ran perfect, and stupid me, I thought if it is running this good now, I wonder what Slick 50 could do to enhance it. I built the engine myself, and Yes, FYI, I am a very experienced rebuilder. I just want you to know that the tolerances between the piston and the cylinders walls were .002" on the money, exact! Well, I followed the instruction on the bottle, poured it ( 1 quart) into the engine with the oil (4 quarts) to make up the required level, and took it for a drive, the length required to have it Teflon coat the engine as claimed, about and hour and a half, ran fine. The next day, when I went to start the motor, it was seized! I repeatedly tried to crank the motor, then it broke free, and ran like it had a misfire or dead cylinder, ran like crap! I could not believe it. So, I pulled the plugs and did a compression test, three dead cylinders low compression! I removed the engine and tore it back down and three of the pistons had broken 1st and 2nd compression rings. X!$%*?!! I re-ringed the motor, removed the Slick 50 and she ran great again. So, the Bottom Line! I would never ever use Slick 50 again, even if you paid me $3000.00, and anybody who puts this junk in your car is crazy. Not one vehicle manufacturer recommends any additives, and if they did, it would be in your glove-box owners manual! Just use good oil as recommended. One last thing, if you read the back label of Slick 50 today, it says, "Do not use in new engines". That's my 2 cents.
