any worth in buying a 69 chevy malibu its price is 1500? its 4 door and runs is it worth restoring its in fair shape so not a lot has to go into it but would it be worth showing off when finished. is a there a market for it or is it just another car not worth much? it it a chevelle?
i just want some help i am kinda new to this hole restore stuff, i just have too much time on my hands. so if you could give some opinions it would be much welcome.

I think you would be totally underestimating the restoration costs. These days for a car to have show type value, it means doing a "frame off" restoration which means starting from the ground up and reconditioning every single component on the car. That means sand blast the frame, change every rubber part, rebuild the engine and transmission. Only then would you have something worthy of the car shows and that would set you back $20K to $30K and the car may be worth $35 when finished.
If you just want it for a weekend driver and something to tinker with, it's worth the money.
Obviously, if this is an SS, it's worth a lot more than a regular Chevelle.

Agree with Hammer. A four door Chevelle isn't worth a whole lot, unless restored to mint condition, and still wouldn't be anywhere near what a Chevelle SS396 or SS454 would be worth in just so-so condition. I had a chance to buy a '69 SS396 , 4spd, posi. with 24,000 miles for $2395.00. But, that was 1970. Couldn't afford the insurance. Sure wish I had it, now.

My sisyer bought a 69SS 396. Toraled it 5 miles from the dealer. Cow was on road and sister hit cow. She was kinda mad at cow. We had fresh hamburger tho.
Being way2old is why I need help from younger minds

well i went ahead and got the 69 chevelle malibu. it runs great and i just traded my Nissan for it. the seats are thrashed, any idea of where i could find some nice replacements. what would happen if i dropped a 396 in it? it has a 307 right now.

Sunny - guessing of course but this could just be a nice bargain as a nice old driver car and just use it up. It's a four door which is many stikes against it to begin with. The high value stuff would be the SSs, 2 door and HO everything.
Seat covers are available - some thru JC Whitney & Co that will look a lot like origs and snap hooks unseen as origs.
Just some thoughts: I think I'd just make it presentable and just drive it,

I'd forget about the 396 idea though. It doesn't have enough suspension or cooling system to support it. Your talking about some serious money to correct those and other issues you'd run into.

If you want OE style, try www.yearone.com I agree with the others on the 396. Maybe a 350.

Uh, I feel like a spring chicken! Thanks. I was only 17 in '69. Geezz, I'm getting younger by the minute! LOL. Uh, why don't I feel any younger? hmmmmm. It was a nice thought, though.
