1996 Cavalier tires look flat

1996 Cavalier tires look flat Sign In

Hello I am driving a 96 chevy cavalier and the other day I could not go to work because my tire looks flat. This morning I changed it out for the donut and now the donut looks flat. I also was able to bounce the tire I took off so the tire is not flat at all. Would it be a suspension problem? It is on the driver's side of the vehicle

There is nothing in the suspension that will make your tire flat on the bottom.

Maybe you never bothered to check the air in your spare like many people do.

Check the tire pressure. Should be 35 psi

How do you know that? Did you look at the placard on her door? Is the spare a regular tire or high pressure donut?

Never saw a "donut" spare suggesting 35 PSI. More like 60 PSI embossed boldly right on it. It would look and be flat if those #s are right,

Flattery will get you everywhere you idiot. First tire was flat so you put on the flat spare and can't figure it out. Are you running for elected office?

Neat old hillbilly trick. Position tire so valve stem is on the bottom so air goes into the flat spot. Perhaps you could understand that?

That still makes you wrong to recommend 35PSI because you haven't seen the placard on the car and you don't even know if it is a front or rear which may have different pressures recommended by the factory but since you decided to call us names, you can suffer the consequences.

Watch it Tom. That is a little close to home. Blush Everyone knows the air is heavier for the tire so it needs to have the valve on the top so it will run downhill. Darn Yankees.

Jeeze , I take a couple of days off and the wheels fall off . THe FIRST thing that has to be determined is whether the tires have winter or summer air in them. Only then can you rotate each tire so that all valve stems are at bottom every time you stop . A high performance tip ....Do like the new cars and put nitro gen in them. Its less dense so the tires will weigh less ......less unsprung weight equals better handleing..
