Recently my civic had the check engine light come on. I took it to a shop and they replaced the plugs and wires. After I left it started dying and would barely go down the street. It would shudder and all sorts of things. The fastest I could go was 25 MPH. So I took it back to the shop and they said two fuel injectors were bad. So they changed one out and cleaned the other. The car has been running somewhat ok ever since. Except now it will sometimes lose power. For instance the other morning I was going 45 and the car lurched and then it felt like it went down in gear or something and then all of a sudden I was going 30. I stepped on the gas to go faster but it wouldn't go. This happens all through the day for a minute and then it's fine again for awhile. I can't pinpoint exactly when it happens because it's happened in a variety of ways. The check engine light doesn't come on and everything else is fine. I've taken it to the mechanic 4 times now and nobody seems to know what is wrong and tells me it's fine. This is not fine because it's my commuter car and I can't have people picking me up every time the car breaks down. So I was wondering if anyone here had any ideas as to what is going on. I have a feeling it's that fuel injector that was cleaned but I don't really know anything about cars and when I tell the mechanic that he tells me the fuel injector is fine. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

I find it hard to believe the check engine light hasn't been on or it hasn't coded. Are you taking it to the same mechanic? Maybe you should try a different shop.

I have taken it to a total of 3 different shops. The last one I took it to was an actual Honda dealer. Everybody has hooked up their little code readers and get nothing :(. I just picked it up again today and they told me to just wait until the light comes on. But sure enough half way through my drive back to work it happened again. Still no check engine light. :\

The only thing I can recommend is to leave it with them for a couple of days, so they can drive it and get it to act up. Hopefully they will be monitoring the correct systems when it decides to go bonkers. There are many things that could cause your symptoms, but guessing gets really expensive.
