2004 Kia Spectra won't start/hold a battery charge.

Hi, recently I took my sister to the movies and upon arriving back at my car, I realized that it wouldn't start. I called someone for a jump and I drove for about a minute before it died. The next day I bought a new battery and was able to drive home where I purchased a new alternator and alternator fuse. Everything was working fine for a couple of days until suddenly the car's lights started to dim and then died again leaving me stranded. I took the battery in to get charged and was able to get home but it then died around the corner from my house. I was still able to get home as all of the electronics were off but the car still ran at a slow speed. I just had to make sure I didn't come to a stop or else I was sure the car would turn off. I don't really know where else to turn at this point. I was told it could be corrosion in the battery wires causing it to drain the battery and I am going to try that tomorrow but I don't want to keep buying parts to fix the car if nothing is going to work... Please any help would be appreciated. By the way, my car is a 2004 Kia Spectra EX 2.0L with 125,000 miles. (High miles, I know, but the car has never given me any major problems up to this point)

Sounds like you simply didn't check the charging system after changing the alternator and just assumed the problem was fixed when it wasn't. That's the first thing you need to do. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.

Well yeah that might be because I'm not a mechanic. If only there were an online forum I could use where I could ask professionals for their advice... Hmm...

And you think sarcasm is going to help get your car fixed? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.

No but the neither are condescending responses to questions asked by nearly mechanically ignorant persons. Acting like this is something I should have known before "assuming" my car was fixed isn't going to help. If I knew that, I wouldn't be on this forum looking for answers. "What you should have done is check the charging system, here's how you do it...." That would have been more helpful I think.
