Hi all mechanics out there. I am just curious on what you think about Fords. Do you see them in the shop still more often than Hondas or Toyotas?. Or have you noticed they've become pretty reliable these days?.

According to Scotty Kilmer (and other people) Ford has come a long way and have improved substantially over the past 10 years. But I'd rather hear from a mechanic on what they think, honest opinion. I still am not sure what to think. Let me know what you think, thanks.

Your username suggests you "bought a Honda" so why are you asking now?
There is no blanket answer for a brand named company/auto maker if you will. They all share something and every last one has made disasters for a vehicle or idea.

A lot matters if you are buying new or used also, used has built a history of each model and what did or didn't work out so well.

IMO on "reliability" of a vehicle the most important ends up being how it was treated and serviced on time by qualified help or skilled DIYers even.

Good luck, choosing what to drive isn't always very easy never mind finding all the proper help and parts you will or expect to need in a timely manner for your needs,

If you listen to Scotty Kilmer, you're liable to end up in a ditch. I wouldn't listen to a word that fool says.

Japanese cars are far superior to american cars in reliability, mostly Toyota and Honda. I'm not condemning American cars, just just don't compare to Japanese cars for reliability. They are a bit more expensive to repair though.

My family owns a Ford F-150 for 4 years now. I can't compare its reliability with the past models since we don't have the chance to maintain one. Ford is kinda high-maintenance but doing some modifications isn't hard anymore since a lot of aftermarket parts offer parts that are suited to Ford. I could say that it's reliable as long as you're consistent with the maintenance.
Current Project: Toyo tires installation.
