I'm looking at buying a used car, it's a 2015 Honda CR-V. My big concern is that it was originally purchased at some point in February 2016, and then sold to the dealer in June 2017. So someone put 42,000 miles on this thing in less than a year and a half, which is obviously a lot.
My question is - a friend of mine says that he would be concerned that the car was pushed too hard over that first year, and that could lead to mechanical issues down the road. Can anyone with any mechanic experience verify whether or not this might actually be true?

What credible proof do you have or can get it was taken care of "miles" wise as per you would to keep warranty in effect? If none, a Carfax even for a collision fixed and more what's the cost savings vs another?
Stuff that is close or done already at 42K might be brakes all set new, tires all set all matching new, some other things too.
Can't be certain but think of it now as 3 model years old as 2018s will be out any time. Look at the door jam to see build date of this car on a sticker that also VIN matches one thru window. That's how old it really is just sitting from that date take a toll.
If price adds up I'd still have this checked out as you may NOT have full warranty if something is missed and just driven and nothing done plus worried about value if a Collison in it's history upsets value to it. Independent inspection at your expense would be a great idea still IMO,

Thanks for the response, Tom.
It's a certified pre-owned car by the dealer so it will still be covered by bumper to bumper for 12k miles and powertrain to 100k miles. Per CARFAX it has one owner and was never in an accident.
Agreed though that at the current mileage it probably needs new tires and brakes soon.

To me lots of miles fast means little just the price commensurate with the miles and ANY car still check out. They want it sold that's what they do. If hard working sales type person owned it may just have traded early for another model who really lives in a vehicle wants more or different. Others either way too low too just know it had things done on time.
Hey - good buying month as new models out prices drop automatically by model year so deals to be had. Tires and brakes. Just negotiate if not to your total satisfaction - it all costs.
Lots of miles quickly isn't harder on the car automatically. Just if somehow that's how someone uses a car all the time and always trades that fast would bug me things not done - specially oil changing. OMG would hate OE oil still in for that long/miles then you OWN it! That's all about it,

There's no reason to even suggest that. The car has been thoroughly inspected by the dealer that decided to certify it. They won't do that if there are any major issues at all.
