Good morning, everyone.

I bought a Kia Stinger GT Line less than a year ago, a 2019 model with 40,000 miles. I had a small oil leak and a gas/burnt oil smell coming out of the fan when the fan air comes from the outside.

My mechanics changed the oil panel for it and told me that the smell should go away in a couple of days.

It did not stop the smell.

I took it to Kia directly, and they told me that I have to change the whole engine! That some illegal fixing had been done on the car. They were able, though, to find a gas leak and fix it. They told me that they cannot tell me how long that engine is gonna last. The gas smell ran away after the fixing at Kia.

I am really scared and upset at the same time! The ex-owner had a small accident that he did not mention to the insurance to keep the title clean. He fixed everything by his own, and he is the one who probably did that. I tried to call him to have more information, but he does not answer me.

I don't know what to do. Should I keep it and pray for the best? Did Kia exaggerate the situation because it does not meet their standard? Should I sell it and mention it to the buyer? Should I change the engine?

Because other than that, the car is super clean and has no issue. I brought it to my mechanic every 6 months, and except for the leak, I had no trouble.

Here is some pics about what Kia I'd complaining about.

I have no idea what "illegal fixing" means.

What is the specific reason they say you need a new engine?

They showed me this pictures and told me that the engine work done on the motor is not a "conventional" work that she had stuffs that are not supposed to be there (as the pics show) and the whole engine had to be changed.
I don't really trust their judgment about changing the whole engine, and that's why I'm basically asking for some different perspective here with all the information I have in my hand !

I can't tell you much of anything with the total lack of specifics here. I don't see anything in the pictures and you don't seem to have any idea what the problem actually is.

What do you recommend me to do to get more informations about the problem?
I asked 1000 of questions to Kia and all I understood, I wrote it above.
I am really concerned about it and I have no idea what to do..... :'(

Just take it to another shop and get another opinion and some more detail as to what the problem is..
