Is The Mechanic At Fault For Blowing My Motor? What Can I Do?

Okay so I brought my Ford F350 to the shop with Injector #1 mis-fire. Well next day they call and tell me they took it for a test drive to diagnose it and they blew the motor. I asked if them or their insurance would pay they said no. Now I'm stuck without my truck. Otherwise I pay 8k and they replace it.Which could take 2 weeks they said. What are my options if any? How am I at fault here. How are they not?

You don't say what engine this has or how many miles are on it.

There is no way of knowing why the motor failed at this point but with that many miles on it, it's not a surprise.
You mentioned having a bad injector. If that injector was stuck open and leaking it would have filled the crankcase with fuel which would have severely diluted the oil. That could have easily caused an engine failure, especially with that many miles.

Exactly so with them knowing this why would they go for a test drive? They didn't diagnose it or nothing they told me they didn't even get a chance to look at it. So then why in tf would you take it for a test drive? Test what? Like shouldn't they be at fault and have to pay for it?

A 2009 with that I can't say what to expect for lots more use for the engine as a whole doubt those techs did either?? Not fair to you it wasn't pinned down to real reasons if asked to diagnose it IMO.
Who pays for it? You brought in in with a problem that ended the thing apparently in whatever attempt happened it's impossible to place blame as I see it so far. At the miles if it was totally their fault how much was it worth is negligible now doubt they can be really help responsible to pay for this.
By choice I'm not a pro "Diesel" tech somewhat on it's own the types used in non "Big Rig" as I see it are made to last endless miles (millions) still worth insane investments to repower are not like this engine at all,
