Ok I'm having some trouble with the title for this car I bought from a private seller. I live in Ohio my dad is living in New Mexico but owns a home in Ohio. I want to put the title under his name with his Ohio address. However, I messed up and at the top of the title was my name and the rest had my dads name and his information which voided the title. Ever since then I've been talking to the seller over the phone trying to get a new title. This time I told him to put the title under my dads name with his information and mail it to me so I can finally mail it to my Dad in New Mexico so he can get it notarized and mail it back to me. The trouble is, the guy said he sent it in the mail a couple weeks ago but I haven't received it, and he lives a couple hours away so meeting him and getting a new one isn't the easiest option. I'm trying to figure out my options right now. What's the easiest way to get a new title under my dads name? Should I go to the title office and just explain them the situation like I'm telling you or can I just tell them I lost the title show them the receipt of purchase and have them give me a new one?

You can't do anything without the sellers help. He can either get a duplicate title or give you a notorized letter stating the original title was signed in error. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.
