Upper and Lower Radiator Hose Replacement Sign In

How often should this be done? I have a 2003 Toyota Echo. It has over 140K miles on it. I had the coolant flushed and replaced about 2 years ago I think. Is it ok to hire a mobile Craigslist mechanic to do a job like this or should I take the car to a car repair shop to have this done? About how much should I expect to pay?

Take it to a real shop for their opinion and prices. I'd demand highest quality which just may be from Dealer only or next Napa's best.

Much rubber has long been better than tons older than this and was a routine to just toss them every few years but are better quality new and unknown by now with inspection, test and opinion right then and there,

Stay away from Craigslist idiots. They do that because nobody will hire them and the quality of their work is usually terrible.

Re: Upper and Lower Radiator Hose Replacement Sign In

OK - I'm in "Metro Boston" area and NAPA doesn't do work just sells parts. The true mobile mechanics would be stopped I think not including emergency services like a motor club and do suggest you join one. 15% discount right off the top thru AAA and many assorted things.

That club does list suggested places up to some agreements to warranty work for participating shops like if something was done while away from your home base could help.

Super chain places for work I'll generally frown upon. There's great and lousy at any.

At some point you should want to trust the judgment of the hands on tech. Know the exact tech not just the service manager if large enough to have that set up.

You said you worried about "radiator" hoses. I didn't add there are plenty of other coolant carrying hoses, some devices that at some point if you decide to invest in more years out of a vehicle would be suggested. Heater hoses, any bypass hoses and so on.

Reason I said NAPA is a lot of my own experience. They will carry both high and low quality (assorted prices too) for their products sold. You can ask one nearest me to get Dealer stuff just wait a day but in this case if not doing the work yourself you need an agreement with the shop and tech who chooses where and what parts almost always you want them to get them at a marked up price as then they take the responsibility for the parts not you.

If you squeeze for low prices and do ask for costs you can end up with stuff that isn't as good as what you just took out that was older but better so watch out on requesting "cheaper" or "cheapest" ways as it will bite you back badly with a lot of work.

The professional people parts and tech are more likely to know current quality of what better than just the fast food places for car work where nothing but cheap matters and IMO speed of work can really mess up so totally avoid the while you wait drive thru junk out there. It's a vehicle where mistakes are just not acceptable for many aspects of things you might do or want done,

NAPA doesn't make repairs. They sell parts. You may see places flagged as Napa service centers but all they are are independent repairs shops that have signed a contract with Napa to buy all their parts there and they get the benefit of a network of repair shops that honor and chargeback each other's warranties.
