Alright guys so sorry to the mods if im in the wrong forum, hope not tho.
What does everyone think of the chevy volt? how do oyu feel about this car? good or bad? is it worth it? and just wondering because they talk about how efficient they are abnd being able to go over 300 miles on a single charge, my question is how much does it cost electricity wise to charge this car for 8 hours? is it really that much of a savings to buy an electric car like the volt?

They're great if you have $40K to buy one and don't drive overt 35 miles a day.

well yeah ik that much but whats it cost to charge in using the electricity they havent said if you save that much from using electricity inst3ad of gas. thats my problem is yeah its got the tech, but its gotta be worth my money ya know, my teacher owns a 2001 jetta tdi and he gets 50mpg on that beast of a diesel, it seems like a helluva deal of a car to me!

To answer your question very simply no. buying a Volt or hybrid will not save you any money. It would take decades for you to recoup the money you spent. But if your heart is set on an electric vehicle go for the volt rather than the leaf. the leaf is an even bigger waste of money considering once its out of electricity its dead in the water. the volt at least can keep going.

Saw some more news on this car. Price, batteries, -- use heat (marginal) or A/C and severely shorten how far you can go. The real corker is people may think using electricity from home, office or wherever is free which it isn't and could or probably is in many area made by coal, diesel or just what you thought you were saving. It needs tons more work and NO SUBSIDIES to get something like that right. Batteries really don't like cold either and the list goes on.............

yeah i figured as much, i like the volt design and they ahd a very persuasive almost documentary on teh speed channel. i just kinda thought it sounded to good to be true, i mean, its gonna raise your electric bill a TON. but either way, if i had a choice of any car that was a hybrid id much rather choose the prsche 911 hybrid its a pretty sweet car, jsut google porsche hybrid and youll find it, its awesome.
